“We have known Maria for 19 years. She is an extraordinarily kind, dedicated, and responsible pet caretaker and person. Over many of those years, we entrusted our beloved toy poodle, Lev, to Maria—often for weeks at a time. Lev passed away in fall 2019 at almost 14. He’d been a brittle diabetic since 6 months and lived far longer than his vets predicted, in no small part due to Maria’s wonderful care. Maria treated Lev with great love and tenderness. She administered his insulin twice daily, cooked his specialized food, and, when necessary rushed him to vets and nursed him back to health. She kept us abreast of details and went way beyond our wildest dreams of love and care. Lev and Maria adored each other. He would run to her when she arrived at our door, always eager to spend time with her. At the end of his life, Maria met us at the vet and went back with us to our home to bury Lev. It is impossible not to love and respect Mari and her deep commitment to animals, people, and life. Years after Lev’s death, we stay in close touch and remain fast friends.”
